Wash Day Featuring Aphogee + Elasta QP

Happy Wash Day, ladies and gentlemen! It's been forever since I've shared a wash day post, right? Since it's the start of a new year, I decided it was high time I did so. I'm currently about 18 weeks post relaxer and have been hiding my hair under buns and twists for many of those weeks. It's time to let my hair breathe for a few days! I was due for a moisturizing shampoo + light protein conditioning, so I grabbed up some of my favorite products from Elasta QP and Aphogee to get the job done. Check out my deets for yesterday's wash day experience below.

PRE-POO | Used Coconut Oil and HE Hello Hydration Conditioner (not pictured) for an hour or so.

CLEANSE | Completely saturated my hair with warm water and applied Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisture Butter Shampoo throughout hair and scalp. I did two washes and rinsed thoroughly.

DEEP CONDITIONING | Applied Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor (with a drop of peppermint oil added) to my hair. I put on my plastic cap and allowed it to penetrate as a deep conditioner for 1 hour. Then rinsed away and removed excess water with a t-shirt.

LEAVE-IN CONDITIONING | Sprayed my hair with Aphogee Pro-Vitamin Leave-In Conditioner then wrapped it in a t-shirt to air dry.

STYLING AIDS | After my hair completely dried, I applied Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Anti-Breakage Leave-In Conditioner and sealed with coconut oil. Then I tied my scarf around the perimeter of my head to make sure my edges would lay down for whatever style I decided to do.

My results were pretty good. The shampoo did a great job of cleansing my hair without stripping it. And the 2-Minute Reconstructor whipped my previously limp and shedding ends back to normal. Since I didn't experience any hang-ups with my cleanse + conditioning, I decided to experiment with my perm rods. protective styling

My hair was already dry and moisturized, so I added a small amount of Elasta QP Design Foam to my hair and set it with the rods. I only used about 9 of the orange rods around my entire head with the exception of 3-4 of the purple ones in the middle back area.

Unfortunately, my rod set did not turn out as well as I had hoped. Perhaps I was too heavy-handed with my coconut oil when sealing my moisturizer before starting. And maybe I wasn't as patient as I should have been when removing the rods. But I decided to throw my headband on this morning and wear my hair out anyway. Honestly, I was just proud of myself for at least attempting. Maybe I'll try again after my next wash.
