I don't know about you guys, but I spend a lot of time finding the perfect lipstick. If I'm planning to go out for dinner with the hubby, I'm contemplating what lipstick should I wear. Girl's night out--what lipstick should I wear? Networking with some pretty dope peeps? You get the idea. While some women plan the perfect outfit, hair and or shoes for an upcoming event, I like to plan my makeup as well. And since certain lipsticks have the power to give me an instant mood boost, I like my lipstick to be fitting for any given occasion.
In today's post I present the idea of keeping five lipsticks in rotation at all times. Yes, ladies. Five. That way you will have a nice starting line-up of lippies to wear no matter the scenario. And since we're categorizing our lipsticks according to mood, I will tell you about five lipsticks that I believe every woman should own, according to how they make you feel when you're wearing them.
We all need that one lipstick that makes us feel...
Flirty. There's nothing like a creamy mauve, nude, or pink lipstick to make me feel like a feisty school girl. I don't know what it is about them. Perhaps it's the way the smooth natural colors accent and highlight the natural beauty and fullness of my lips. MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Fanfare, MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in Ump The Amp, and Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Nude Truffle really make me feel flirty and are perfect for spring.

Fierce. Have you ever worn a lipstick, outfit, or accessory that had "I came, I saw, I slayed" written all over it? Not only do I have a few pairs of shoes that do this for me, I have a couple of lipsticks that give the same effect when worn. Wet n' Wild Megalast Lipstick in Cherry Bomb and Cinnamon Spice along with MAC Matte Lipstick in Heroine are among my favorite "fierce" lippies.
Fun. How many of you have seen vibrant, neon hues of lipstick and can only wonder how they would look on you? I know I'm not the only one! The first time I ever wore a bright lipstick was some years back, when I first caught wind of the Morange lipstick from MAC. I did an impulse purchase of the brilliant orange lipstick and could not wait to get in front of the mirror to try it on. It made me feel so bold and daring to wear! I will admit, it took me forever to actually leave the house wearing it for fear of looking like a clown in public, though. I'm glad I did because now Morange is among my favorite lipsticks when it comes to creating fun looks.

Powerful. I may have to cheat a little when it comes to this category. There are times when I feel anything but powerful. I'm unsure of where I'm going and what I'm going to do once I get there, especially with a new experience. I'm second guessing my decision to even go or do what I originally set out to do. But that's when my power lippie comes into play. Just a couple of swipes of my favorite red lipstick and my confidence is instantly boosted! In a case like this, MAC Ruby Woo (or Riri Woo) is the quintessential power pucker for me. I keep that lippie on deck for this very reason.
Sultry. Sometimes when I'm putting my makeup on in the mirror, I find my husband gazing at me longer than usual. And though he doesn't say much about the eyeshadow, mascara, or blush I wear (as he doesn't pay much attention to many of my cosmetics), he will definitely let me know when I'm applying a lipstick shade that he likes. Oftentimes when I'm filling my lips with a shade like Jordana Modern Matte Lipstick in It Girl, he gives me a longing look and will say "you're wearing that lipstick that I like." Little does he know, I have quite a few fuchsia and raspberry colored lipsticks that he's said this very same thing about before. Now when I wear this color of lipstick, I feel sultry, sensual, and alluring. And these shades are usually the ones I receive the most compliments from when I'm out and about.

Each of these lipstick choices are prone to change as the season progress. My favorite brands may release a new formula with creamy, moisturizing finishes. I may even come across quality dupes of designer lipsticks I've only dreamed of owning while trolling the aisles at Sephora and Macy's. And one or two lipsticks may soon find their way into my makeup bag, replacing a couple that I profess deep love for at this current time. All in all, lipsticks have power. They make me feel like a woman---flirty, fierce, fun, powerful, sultry, sensual, all of these different things. So if you're considering trying out a new lipstick, but are afraid of how others may perceive you---block those thoughts from your mind. Your lipstick choices are to empower YOU. So in writing this post, I'm not trying to tell you what five lipsticks to purchase. That choices is all your own. Just make sure you have five lipsticks in your arsenal that make you have all the feels, honey!
