As I prepared to write upcoming posts about beauty, fall reading, and upcoming events, I thought it would be cool to join the masses and add a list of the things I'm most looking forward to this season. Read after the jump to check out the 13 things I'm getting hype about.
13 Things I'm Looking Forward to This Fall
2. Visiting The Pumpkin Patch- I didn't make it to the pumpkin patch last year, so I am really looking forward to going this year and letting Jj pick out his own pumpkins. I think my older children may be over the pumpkin patch, but hopefully Jj will still be excited!
3. Fair Time- The fair may easily be my favorite fall outdoor activity. From playing fun games (meaning the games that can actually be won and aren't rigged, plus give the best stuffed prizes lol) to indulging in caramel apples, deep-fried Oreos, and funnel cakes galore, the fair is definitely the place to be.
4. Wine Festival- If you didn't already know, October is NC Wine & Grape Month. I am so looking forward to heading out to my local Wine Festival and racking up on wine, enjoying delicious food from the various food trucks and dancing along with the tunes from the live bands. I can't wait, y'all.
5. Parades- Who doesn't love a parade though? Standing out as marching bands and dance troupes go by, people throwing out candy from their cars, oh and more fair style games and catching up with long lost friends and family? Sign me up!
6. The Fall Festival at the kids school- I will admit that I might have just as much fun at the Fall Festival as the kids. I still squeal right along with them through the haunted house and I try not to embarrass them when I do my victory dance after winning sweets at the cake walk. It's always a blast and the little ones never want to leave!
7. Hayrides- Because who doesn't love hayrides? And what is fall without one? Especially in the country!?!?!?!
8. Trying New Recipes- I have a Pinterest board just waiting for me to browse and try new recipes from. And something about fall makes me want to eat hearty soups and bake desserts nonstop. As far as soups go, I have been sticking to my usual basic soup recipe and I have broccoli and cheddar soup down to a science. But as fall returns, I'm down to try new soup recipes as well as baking more fragrant, decadent desserts. If you know me, you already know I am going to bake some type of cheesecake.
9. Bringing my vampy lippies back out- You guys know I brake for a fierce lip by now, right? So as soon as the season hits, I'm always ready to pull out my train case and drop some deep, dark lipsticks into my makeup bag. Aside from the cranberry and plum colored lippies I have on my fall wishlist, I will be sure to put my favorite wines, berries, and chocolate shades back into rotation this week. What color lippies are you rocking this season?
10. Fall TV- As much as I plan to enjoy time outdoors this season, I also look forward to camping out in front of the TV to watch my favorite shows. While The Mindy Project, Broad City, and Gotham have already made their return, I'm looking forward to HTGAWM, Black-ish, Empire, and This is Us (my faaaaavorite) coming back this week and next. Now that I'm typing out show titles, that does sound like a lot of TV to watch, doesn't it?
11. Indulging in my Fall Reading List- The kids and I have so many fun reads on our TBR lists this fall and I'm excited to be digging into them all soon! I'm hoping to finish up the Nappily Series by Trisha R. Thomas this fall as well as some books I hauled during the summer that are still sitting in a corner. So many books, so little time! Be sure to keep a look out for a post on my Fall Reading TBR soon!
12. Watching seasonal movies with the family- On fall weekends, I love watching seasonal flicks with the kids like Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, Casper, Bedknobs and Broomsticks (thanks Aunt Ava for having me hooked on this movie since childhood) and It's the Great Pumpkin King, Charlie Brown. We grab snacks, prepare hot chocolate, and stay glued to the TV for hours on end laughing and reciting movie lines.
13. Sweater Weather- With the temps still being in the high 80s here in NC, it's not quite time to break out the sweaters. In fact, many of us are still wearing shorts around my way! But I am looking forward to wearing sweaters, slacks, scarves, and boots once the weather permits. And I can't wait to pull out my hoodies, sweatpants, and sneakers to wear everywhere! What are you most excited about rocking this fall?
There are so many fun things to get into during the fall season and I am here for it all. Whether you enjoy tailgating during football season, attending all the fairs and festivals your heart can stand, spending time making memories with your close friends and loved ones, or simply staying indoors to cuddle up with your favorite reads, fall has something magical to offer. So as the trees change color and the leaves begin to fall, I'm going to try my best to make the most of everything (and remember to bring my camera along to capture memories- for serious).
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FALL?
