I know everyone is in love with so many of these new creamy lippies that have been showing up in the beauty world. Believe me, I do, too. But can we please take a second to pay homage to my favorite lipstick finish for a few minutes? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am talking about the ever-so-faithful matte. Once you get acquainted with a nice matte lipstick, she will stick closer to you than a supportive homegirl.
And since we've been wearing masks, matte lipsticks are the only lippies up to the task of lasting through the extra layer of protection. So how about we take it back to some of my favorite matte lipsticks for a bit? Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks have been getting a lot of play around my way this winter and since I haven't shared any swatches here on the blog, I thought today would be a great day to do so.
According to the Fenty Beauty website, these plush matte lipsticks are "long-wearing, petal-soft matte finish [lipsticks], now in a rainbow of 23 weightless, color-intense shades each designed to flatter all skin tones." And as far as I can tell from my pick 4, they are definitely flattering!Below are the pick four (left to right, top to bottom)-- Thicc, Candy Venom, Flamingo Acid, and PMS.
Thicc is described as a sultry mauve. I love it for an everyday nude lipstick. It can be worn without a liner (as I've worn here) for a subtle look, or you can pair it with a colored liner of your choosing to really make it pop. For a fun weekend look, I like to rock it with a chocolate liner for a 90's hottie look. This one is one of Rihanna's favorites from the line, and for good reason. She is down for whatever, depending on the liner you pair her with.
Candy Venom is an in-your-face electric pink. You don't need a liner at all for this gorgeous, vibrant lipstick. This is a fun, playful lipstick that exudes confidence and makes onlookers take notice! So, if you like to blend into the background and don't want folks to make a lot of fuss over you and your appearance, this lipstick might not be for you. But if you don't mind those compliments and inquiries pouring in about your beautiful pink pout, put this baby in your rotation!
Flamingo Acid is a bright berry lipstick that just might be my favorite of the four. No matter the occasion, this beautiful berry shade will hold you down. It's muted enough to work for everyday wear, but alluring enough to rock for that dinner date as well. If you're looking to add that perfect, universally flattering, grown woman lipstick to your makeup bag, give this baby a shot. She doesn't even need a liner to come out and play nice, either.
PMS is exactly what it sounds like: a moody brown hue. And quite honestly, 2020 gave me a lot of moody vibes. This deep brown shade perfectly matched my mood more times than I care to admit. But I've always loved a dark lip. Seeing brown-skinned women rocking brown lipstick on TV in the 90's influenced me to keep chocolate shades in my makeup bag. And PMS reigns supreme when it comes to deep hues, especially on fuller lips. If you're daring and moody like me, you should definitely add this baby to your arsenal. She makes a statement every single time.
